John Cheek, CPA
John graduated Duke University with a BA in 1974. He was employed by Schultheis & Panettieri (1976-1978) and Ernst & Whinney (1979-1987), rejoined Schultheis & Panettieri in 1987 and became partner in 1989. At Schultheis, his responsibilities include audit, tax, and ERISA matters, technical research and computer capabilities. His clients include labor unions, employee benefit plans, construction, governmental, numerous nonprofit organizations , and health care providers.
John has been active in various professional societies. He's a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the NYS Society of CPAs, and the International Foundation Employee Benefit Plans. For the Nassau Chapter of NYSSCPA, he has been active with numerous committees, including the Employee Benefits, Accounting & Auditing, Cooperation with Bankers, Computer Usage and Real Estate committees. He has lectured on topics such as Section 415 Limits, Termination of Pension Plans, IRS and DOL Audits. For 1995-1996 and 1996-1997 John is the chairman of the Employee Benefit Committee for the Nassau Chapter of the NY State Society.
